FLA-OC Weekend Language Immersion Camp in Big Bear!!!
This annual language camp is sponsored by the Foreign Language Association of Orange County (FLA-OC), and is traditionally held at the Presbyterian Conference Center in Big Bear, California. Approximately 15 Spanish Teachers and 100 Student Campers from all over Orange County head for the mountains to spend 2 nights and 2 days (Friday-Sunday) functioning solely ¡en español! The Campers are comprised of both standard and heritage speaker students enrolled in Spanish III, IV or V/AP, and the Teachers are current members of FLA-OC. All attendees (including Teachers) pay about $100, and this fee includes transportation to and from Big Bear (from the county-wide meeting place, Canyon High School), food, activities, materials for arts & crafts and cooking classes, and 2 nights' acommodations: for the girls, there is the main two-story cabin with numerous rooms that include bunk beds, and also two large bathrooms with multiple sinks, stalls and showers, on each floor; for the boys, there are separate one-story cabins at a distance from the main cabin, with similar bathroom situations.
Each Camp's activities are based on a central theme, such as Los indígenas americanos (2001), La Primavera en Latinoamérica (2002), or Costa Rica: Pura Vida (2003)
ACIS: Andalucian Fiesta... SPAIN 2004!!!
(TRIP WEBSITE)
This will be Oxford's first international trip to a Spanish-speaking country! A small group of high school students will spend 10 wonderful days and nights touring the highlights of Andalucía, the southernmost province in the Western European country of Spain. The itinerary follows closely the topics covered in the Spanish III curriculum, so the trip is ideal for students who are currently enrolled in or have already taken Spanish III. Fundraising opportunities are available. Send e-mail to me (Mrs. Matić) for more details (tinamatic@hotmail.com).
High School Study Abroad Programs

This is an aerial view of the beautiful
and very traditional Andean city of Mérida, Venezuela, where I lived, worked,
and studied as an international student for six months during my undergraduate
career at UC Irvine.
This was my Venezuelan Host Dog, Abicito,
sporting the suéter de Navidad that I sewed just for him.
